Transaction Banking is the payments hart of ABN AMRO. Transaction Banking Netherlands (TB NL) is set up to enable our private and business clients across the Consumer and Commercial Client Segments in the Netherlands to benefit from innovation and scale in our global transaction banking offering. TB NL is responsible for product management for account, payment and trade finance related products; and works closely together with other key players in the Transaction Banking chain: Value Centre Marketing, Operations TB and TB IT.


Business Planning and Strategy Development is the Strategic Decision Support (SDS) unit of Transaction Banking Netherlands. The unit supports the Transaction Banking Regional Head in the areas of Financials, Projects, Strategy and Risk within the geography The Netherlands; ie: ranging from Global Clients, Commercial and Consumer Banking (Value Centre Particulieren en Zaken) and Private Clients, and across the complete Chain (keten) from Client Facing units, to Operations to Technology.


Key responsibilities include co-ordination of Planning & Strategy (SMP); Management Information in the broadest sense; Support for Payment-related alignment meetings - from Vice President to Executive Vice President level; Communications as well as Projects. This department offers a challenging – high-pressure – work environment where students can gain fast access into the area of Transaction Banking.


We offer various intellectual challenges that would qualify for thesis subjects – the list below is an example:

  • Design and implement a framework for P&L Accountability among product managers
  • Structure and Design a Strategic Framework that can be used for Transaction Banking Products
  • Investigate and improve the effectiveness of matrix management for project management
  • Design a framework for effective performance evaluation.

We require students to actively participate in the daily activities of the department in order to grow their knowledge and expertise as quick as possible.
